Comissions
Over the years, I received invitations to moderate talks, do workshops, but also to help create sound objects. It is always a privilege to respond to challenges and think about sound for different places.
Sertã Reading Marathon
24 hours reading
The Reading Marathon in Sertã is today one of the main cultural events in the portuguese interior, whose main purpose is to challenge readers to read aloud excerpts from works by their favorite authors. Since 2018, I have been working with Maratona to create a sound archive from recordings with participants.
Project Access
Quinta Alegre, Lisbon
A project developed between 2019 and 2022 in collaboration with 7 other European cities. The goal is to look at territories with a smaller presence of the Municipal Culture of Lisbon.
The work was developed in the parish of Santa Clara, in the Quinta Alegre (a small palace), using interviews (video, audio and written) with residents and protagonists.
Matosinhos shop windows
Good neighborhood
This project worked the concept of “good neighborhood” and, on the other hand, promoted local commerce. This project was born, from the head of author, editor and bookseller Adélia Carvalho, who challenged me to put together conversations and some singing from residents and traders of the northern city in a long sound postcard emitted on loudspeakers placed in the streets.
Onomatopoeia Festival
Sound postcard
Onomatopeia is a Children's Literature Festival that takes place in Valongo, in the north of Portugal, during the month of May and is directed by the writer, editor and bookseller Adélia Carvalho. During the pandemic it was necessary to turn the event upside down. In this demand, I created a sound postcard to be issued in the streets with dozens of contributions. All of them… onomatopoeias!
Benfeita Radio
Village community project
Work carried out as part of a community project in the village of Benfeita, municipality of Arganil (center of Portugal) in 2013. Children collected sounds and testimonials over several days from people who live, work and spend their holidays in this village, which in 2017 was hit by the serious fires that affected the Center Region. A small girl called Luísa leads us through Benfeita, she knows it like the palm of her hand.
